2007 UPA College Championships

The 2007 UPA College Ultimate Championships are a brought to you by the Ultimate Players Association.  Over 10,000 student athletes on more than 600 college teams from across North America entered the UPA College Championship Series in early April.  Two months later only the top college Ultimate teams from across North America will be left.  These teams will meet in Columbus, OH over 3 days to compete for the 2007 UPA College Championship.

The UPA would like to congratulate all the qualifying teams and welcome players, volunteers, and fans to Columbus.  Find out all there is to know about the tournament, and if you can’t make it to the event, keep up with the action through this site.

UPA College Finals on CSTV

Just a reminder that the UPA College Ultimate Championships Finals premier on College Sports television this weekend. Here’s a preliminary list of dates and times if you want to mark them on your calendar. All times are Eastern. Check out www.cstv.com for additional air dates/times. Enjoy!

2007 Open: Premier Sun June 10, 7pm; Mon June 11 12 am; Wed June 13 12 noon; Friday June 15 1pm; Sat June 16, 12 am; Sun June 17 6:30 am; Friday June 22 9 pm; Sat June 23, 6:30 PM; Tues July 10 10 PM.

Both games will fill a two hour TV slot…so plan to catch every point and some great play by play by Ultimate’s most experienced tv personality, Kyle Weisbrod.

Special thanks to all the Ohio State and Columbus Ultimate folks for a hosting a terrific event (especially Rodger Oakes, Deanna Ball and of course NCD Jeff Kula), to Justin and the rest of the Central Crossing High School staff for their facilities and their cooperation and to David Raflo for providing on-the-field stats for the announcers and to Henry Thorne for serving as interface between the TV truck crew and the action on the field. And of course, to everyone on the UPA staff who pulls together at a very busy time to make it all come together.

Stanford (Women), Wisconsin (Open) Win College Championships

Stanford Superfly won their third straight UPA College Women's Championship and the Wisconsin Hodags earned the Open College Championship after finishing runner-up a year ago.  Check out the write-ups on the results page for all of the details.  Congratulations to Stanford Superfly and the Wisconsin Hodags!

Finals Set!

The Finals are set at the College Championships with the Women up first as the University of California-Santa Barbara takes on defending champs Stanford at noon edt.  That will be followed by Wisconsin and Colorado at 2:30 edt.  Both games will be played at Central Crossing Stadium.  Click here for directions.

College Championships on CSTV!

Can't make it to Columbus? Tune in to CSTV and CSTV.com to watch the 2007 UPA College Championship Finals from home or office! For the first time, the UPA and CSTV will televise the Finals within two weeks of crowning the champions. Final 1 will air nationally on CSTV on Saturday, June 9 (4-6pm Eastern); with Final 2 scheduled for Sunday, June 10 (7-9pm Eastern). We'll be airing each match within a two hour TV broadcast, with limited editing and lots of excitement from the fields and in the stands. Internet broadcasts via CSTV.com will commence in July.

Seedings and Schedule Set!

Alumni All-Star Showcase Team Named

The College Alumni All-Star teams have been named. With top college players from all over the country, including recently graduated standouts and stars from back in the day, these two teams are sure to provide something that everyone can get excited about. As you take a breather between college regional tournaments and anticipate who else is going to qualify for the 2007 College Championships, check out the stellar list of players that will be on display on Saturday night in Columbus. Find a team or a player to cheer for, and ask yourself...will the East or the West take home bragging rights?

2007 UPA College Regionals - 1 Week Down, 1 To Go!

Half of the field of teams for the College Championships has now been determined. Both returning champs (Florida-Open, Stanford-Women) will be back to defend their titles. And while there will be other familiar names looking to knock them off, there are already some new teams that have worked their way into the mix, including Indiana taking the Great Lakes Open Championship and Truman State and Northwestern women qualifying for the lone bids out of the South and Great Lakes respectively. Check out the College Series Results pages to see what happened in last weekend's action, and to get ready for next weekend's qualifying events!

2007 UPA College Regionals - Week 1 Coming Up!

Barring a few rainouts rescheduled for this weekend, Sectionals are in the books with Regionals on deck - the final step in qualifying for the 2007 UPA College Championships in Columbus, Ohio May 25-27! The Atlantic Coast, Great Lakes, Northwest, and South regions kick things off this weekend followed by the Central, Southwest, Metro East and New England regions next weekend. College Alumni All-Star Teams

The application period is closed. Selected players will be contacted shortly with invitations to the event. Teams will be confirmed and announced by the end of next week! Stay tuned.

College Alumni All-Star Game

The UPA is creating a new opportunity to showcase the sport and entertain players and fans at the College Championships. Following the semi-finals on Saturday, the UPA will host a showcase game between teams of former college players from throughout the country. Are you a former college star? How'd you like to play with some of the greats of Ultimate and represent your region/school one more time? Click here for more info and to fill out an application (deadline 4/25)!
